Eoin Quinlan
Cello
Irish cellist Eoin Quinlan began his musical journey at the age of six under the guidance of Moya O’Grady. He went on to study at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, where he earned his BA (hons) with some of the highest performance marks awarded. He subsequently completed a Master’s degree at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying under renowned British cellist Louise Hopkins.
Eoin has taken part in masterclasses with many of the world’s leading cellists, including Steven Isserlis, Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirschbaum, and Johannes Goritzki. A passionate competitor from a young age, he has won most of the national cello categories and string competitions in Ireland. Internationally, he was a prize winner at the Concours ‘Flâme’ in Paris, where he was awarded a full scholarship to the Mozarteum Internationale Sommerakademie in Salzburg.
As a performer, Eoin has appeared extensively across Ireland, the UK, and internationally. As a recitalist, he has collaborated with acclaimed pianists such as Alasdair Beatson, Professor Caroline Palmer, and Lance Coburn. He has also performed as a soloist with orchestras at home and abroad. In chamber music, he has worked with ensembles including Crash Ensemble, Ficino Ensemble, and the Esslan Piano Trio, and has been invited multiple times to the West Cork International Chamber Music Festival’s prestigious masterclass programme.
Eoin has worked with all of Ireland’s professional orchestras, including regular appearances with the National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and the Irish Chamber Orchestra. As a member of Camerata Ireland, appearing as principal and co-principal cellist, he has toured internationally, performing in many of the world’s most renowned concert halls across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
