Second Violin
Maria grew up in Munich, Germany, where she received her classical violin education from members of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. She won numerous prizes at the Jugend Musiziert competition in the categories violin solo and violin/piano duo together with her twin sister Clara. Maria also participated in the exams of the Royal Irish Academy of Music up to the Gold Medal level with Distinction. From an early age, Maria was a member of many youth orchestras, including in concertmaster or leading positions, such as the Attacca Youth Orchestra of the Bavarian State Orchestra. She has performed under conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Kent Nagano and Zubin Mehta. Maria also has broad chamber music experience ranging from duo to string octet. She co-founded the Musica Marveglia octet with musicians from Germany and Switzerland in 2021. Recent performances have brought her to the Herkulessaal in Munich with the Abaco Orchestra, the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich with the Music Academy of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg with the North German Orchestra Academy.
Since 2024, Maria lives in Galway pursuing a PhD in Pathology at the University of Galway and taking an active part in the local musical landscape.
